Consultation Grant sent to NEH
The Consultation Grant was sent to the NEH on Monday, September 15. An email was received from Clay Lewis, NEH Senior Program Officer, on September 24 indicating that the grant was received without a problem. We will hear about the grant in April 2004 with a scheduled start date for the project of June 2004. A copy of the complete grant application has been placed in the Foundation's archives.
This grant would allow us to assemble a "team" of humanities specialists in the summer of 2004 who, using all of the existing documentation and historical data, will write a comprehensive interpretive plan for the farm. Members of the team include: Julie Avery, Assistant Curator of History at Michigan State University; Rex Shugart, local history consul; JoEllen Vinyard, Professor of History at Eastern Michigan University; and Mark Livengood.
